-
Compostable Straw Extrusion Material
PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a biodegradable plastic made from plant-based materials, such as corn starch.
-
Compostable Blown Film Material
PLA exhibits good transparency and optical properties, making it suitable for food packaging and other transparent applications.
-
There are many products for your reference. We have outstanding research and development group and professional produce group, can provide consult and meet all your requirements.
-
Compostable Injection Molding Material
PLA is derived from renewable resources (plants) rather than finite petroleum. This gives PLA an advantage in terms of sustainability
-
Compostable Thermoforming Material
The production process of PLA generates lower greenhouse gas emissions because it doesn’t rely on fossil fuels.
Benefits of Compostable PLA Resin
Environmental sustainability
Compostable resins are made from renewable resources and decompose into natural elements, reducing the accumulation of plastic waste in landfills and oceans.
Non-toxic decomposition
Unlike traditional plastics, which release harmful chemicals during degradation, compostable resins break down into non-toxic components that do not harm the environment.
Reduced carbon footprint
The production of compostable resins generally produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions than traditional plastics, thus helping to lower the carbon footprint.
Enhanced soil quality
The biomass produced during the decomposition of compostable resins can improve soil health by adding organic matter and nutrients.
Food and packaging field
Degradable raw materials are widely used in food packaging, including food bags, supermarket shopping bags, fast food tableware, express packaging bags, etc. For example, PLA (polylactic acid) and PBAT (poly (adipic acid/butylene terephthalate)) are commonly used biodegradable plastics that can be completely decomposed into carbon dioxide and water during the degradation process, without polluting the environment. Mainly used in the food industry such as biodegradable straws, disposable tableware, paper plastic composite paper cups, as well as packaging materials such as disposable shopping bags, express bags, and cosmetics packaging. These products can naturally degrade after use, reducing environmental pollution.
In the field of agriculture
Biodegradable materials are used for agricultural film, compost bags, etc., which can effectively reduce soil pollution. Traditional plastic film is difficult to degrade, while biodegradable film can naturally decompose after use, protecting land resources. Mainly used in agricultural fields such as agricultural film, compost bags, and slow-release carriers for pesticides.
Medical field
Degradable materials also have important applications in the medical field, mainly used for surgical sutures, artificial bones, artificial skin, medical stents, etc. These materials have good biocompatibility and degradability, which can reduce the risk of rejection and infection in patients. Mainly used in medical materials such as surgical sutures, artificial bones, artificial skin, medical stents, orthopedic needles, stents, wound dressings, and implant devices.
Other fields
Textiles, electronic products, automobiles, and transportation, among others, in the textile industry, textiles made from biodegradable materials have good environmental performance and can decompose in specific environments, reducing the burden on the environment.
First corn starch must be converted into sugar through a mechanical process called wet milling. Wet milling separates the starch from the kernels. Acid or enzymes are added once these components are separated. Then, they’re heated to convert the starch into dextrose (aka sugar).
Next, the dextrose is fermented. One of the most common fermentation methods involves adding Lactobacillus bacteria to the dextrose. This, in turn, creates lactic acid.
The lactic acid is then converted into lactide, a ring-form dimer of lactic acid. These lactide molecules bond together to create polymers.
The result of the polymerization is small pieces of raw material polylactic acid plastic which can be converted into an array of PLA plastic products.
